A Wrinkle in Time

No, I'm not going to post thoughts on a book by Madeleine L'Engle (awesome read though). What I'd like to write about today is how quickly time passes by. I swear yesterday was Saturday. Then I blinked, and it turns out today is Thursday. Keeping up with this blog is harder than I expected...

Let's face it, time gets taken for granted. With all the other stuff we have to worry about in our day to day lives, who has time to think about time? We all have our routines, and each day passes through our routine until our days start running together. We have names for each day, and that helps a little, but Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday...what's the real difference? I can't think of one, except for the fact that time elapses throughout this cycle. If we think about where we were in our lives 6 months ago, a year ago even, as compared to where we are now, are we really progressing through time, or are we simply existing? Are we just going through the same daily routine, watching life pass by, hoping that one day something might change?

Let's not continue to take time for granted. Let's reflect more on our days, step back from our routines and soak up the passing time. Maybe it will help slow things down a little, or help us feel like we have more control of our lives. Maybe thinking about time will finally make each day important, instead of days simply being placeholders for our routines. And maybe then I will remember what day is what, because I swear it's only Monday right now...Tuesday at the latest...
